Charlotte Dialogue With Panel Moves Community Plan Forward
Community Plan to be 'Overlay District' in Charlotte

The Boca Grande Community Plan - Charlotte County portion is headed to become the "Boca Grande Overlay District" of the Charlotte County Comprehensive Land Use Plan following Tuesday's meeting of the Boca Grande Community Planning Panel and members of the Charlotte County Community Development Department.

The Overlay District does have "the force of law" said Tom Cookingham, Charlotte County planning director, who along with Martina Kuche, 

Charlotte senior planner, addressed the panel at the meeting held in Amory Chapel.

Lee County has already approved inclusion of the plan into that county’s comprehensive land use plan following review at the state level. The community plan pertaining to the Charlotte County side of the island had been delayed pending that county's response. Comments to the plan were not received until August.
