| Before
the island goes into summer mode, members of the Boca Grande
Planning Panel hope to get the footwork of a parking and traffic
study completed. To do that, volunteers are needed ASAP.
"Mostly what we need is for volunteers to
observe, count and report on traffic conditions," said Ted
Hoopes. The Panel's consultants Morris-Depew Associates, Inc. of
Ft. Myers are handling the study and requested the need for
volunteers to cut down cost.
Hoopes said the Panel's implementation funding
request for |
$50,000, approved by the Lee
County Division of Planning staff, is on the county commission
agenda for action 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Commission's Chambers
in Fort Myers. Also on the agenda is a resolution to accept an
amendment to the Lee County Administrative Code to create the
Boca Grande Historic Preservation Board.
Volunteers should contact Bayne Stevenson,
964-6464 or Ted Hoopes, 964-0810. Volunteers need only leave
their name and phone number. The parking and traffic counts
|
should be completed by the end of
April while the results of the study would not be published for
several months. "We're busy all through April, but we need
to get this started real soon," said Hoopes.
Applications for the Boca Grande Historic
Preservation Board can be obtained by calling Gloria Sajgo,
Historic Preservation Planner at 239-479-8311 or by stopping in
at the Johann Fust Community Library or Lee County Reference
Room at the Community Center.
